Easter in quarantine!

Easter in quarantine is not much different than Easter at other times in the Chunder household, although sourcing candies is a bit more difficult. Everyone slept in (as Nikola was up until 2 and Shaynee was up until 4!) so I took the dog downstairs, made some coffee and hid the remaining dyed eggs.

Once everyone was awake, ground rules were laid out and in-bounds established. Then they were off on a mad dash through the house and yard to find 144 plastic and 15 boiled eggs. After watching them brush past certain well-hidden eggs enough times, I had to play a little “hotter-colder” for some remainders. Sometimes I would alternate the meaning of “hot” and “cold”, just to mix it up.

Then the sorting began. Jelly Belly’s, sour gummies, quarters, some singles, and clues. Like a tip jar, the cash gets evenly distributed. The clues words are sorted by player (yellow to Alton, orange to Nikola), which they had to rearrange into a sentence, which then becomes the hint to find the final prize. Yes, we were missing a few words, so Shaynee just filled in those blanks.

Noche loves chasing after the empty plastic eggs. For the most part she prefers to bring them back to fetch again. However, when left to her own devices she does start to chew a little.

I found this!

After an hour (just an hour?) the egg search was over. All boiled eggs were accounted for (whew!) and the kids retreated to their respective corners to connect and chat/play with their friends. There were still about a dozen unaccounted plastic eggs left behind, but at least they won’t smell sulfurous down the road. And will be a bonus surprise jelly bean (or clue word) one day!
