Free wheeling!

Today was Alton’s inaugural 2-wheel bike ride. Up until now he was pretty apprehensive about taking off the training wheels, so we haven’t forced the issue. Today when I came home from work, I suggested that we take his bike for a ride at the park. “Okay!” he said, enthusiastically. Then I suggested that we try taking off the training wheels. And without hesitation, he said “Okay!”

So off they came. He needed a little push whilst walking uphill toward the park. But once on the straightaway, he started pedaling on his own. Before we knew it, he was off! Without much coaching, he was weaving and turning on his own, even on the grass.

Stopping was a bit more of a challenge, but he was also able to get going from a stop.

We’re so proud of him for overcoming his fear of the unknown!
