Nikola had own enough rounds during regular season tournaments to qualify for the state championships. This amounted to a total of 3 rounds won, but it was enough to qualify. So she and Monse convened with 1600 other elementary students from around WA state at Pier 91, where the cruise ships depart.
Nikola won her first round, her only win for the day, so was a little discouraged. But Shaynee and Susan had enough activities and snacks to keep the girls occupied.
Afterward, it was dinner at Ivar’s. Gluten-free pasta for Shaynee and Nikola went for that venerable classic, mac & cheese with clams. Although if you just called it pasta alla vongole, it wouldn’t seem too odd. She is her father’s daughter.
