Mid-winter surf and sun!

Drove out to the coast to spend a few days at Seabrook. While we had hoped to get a little sun and beach time, the storm system had other plans. The week’s weather forecast was for 100% chance of rain from Mon-Wed, and only 50% chance on Thu. Fortunately, the weather was slightly more amenable. It was actually sunny (albeit cold and breezy).

SPLASH!

The crushed oyster shell bocce court (course? field? pit?) was under a couple of inches of water, which changed it into more of a bocce pond. But that didn’t stop the kids, who managed to change the nature of the game into more of a water sport.

Bonus discovery: crushed shells (CaCO3) + water (H2O) + heat = plaster!

Shaynee entertained the kids with fruit plates made to look like animals. How did I not catch a photo of that?

The rain was not as bad as predicted, and let up enough that we were able to spend some time at the beach. Plus, it made for some very photographic moments.

The washed up bullwhip kelp provided the kids with some “beach pets”, and some consternation that we could not bring the 30′ long kelp home.

Nikola discovers the thousand-piece puzzle at the house and decides to put it together… on the last day.
