Although we had planned for a sleepover swap last night, the kids were still pretty tired from the trip, Nikola wanted to sleep in her own bed, and (as is his wont) Alton refused to be dropped off at anyone else’s house. Instead, we had a movie night and watched “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope”. Alton was alternatingly thrilled and hiding under the blanket, not because he was scared, but because that is what he does when he is excited. Nikola was fascinated by the concept of “special effects” – how they did not actually blow up any extras and real starships during the battle scenes. She particularly loved the loud rumble of star ships zooming through space. Apparently, we will have to review why there is no sound in space.
Of course, this meant a massive rebuild of Star Wars Lego in the morning. Which meant a mega search for missing and substitute pieces. And MacGuyvering the ones that were unfindable.
