Everything is Awesome!!!

The family went to see “The Lego Movie” today.

And.

It.

Was.

Awesome!!!

[No real spoilers below]

Engaging story and animation. The CGI looked just like real Lego bricks, you almost couldn’t tell it from stop-motion animation. The storyline and humor worked for all ages. The kids had a blast. Alton powered through the movie popcorn and secret snacks squirreled in by Shaynee. But once the movie got going, he was so engaged that he set the snacks aside. Nikola laughed all the way through. And mommy and daddy. Makes you want to come home and build Lego.

The beauty was that it didn’t feel like an hour-and-a-half advertisement for any particular Lego set (just the entire Lego name), with most of the sets cobbled together by imagination (hint hint). The irony is that Lego Corp actually sells a new line of “Lego Movie” kits that reproduce the “built by imagination” models in the movie. Okay, that is kinda sad, actually.

But still totally worth it. This is the first movie that we (S & T) had wanted to see in a theater for a long time.

The moment we saw the first ad for the movie, we said this most likely was made with Alton in mind. Since we saw the movie ad, we also have discovered Lego candy in a retro candy store in Burlingame. They are pieces of candy shaped like real Legos and in five different flavors. The ” builder” can first construct his/her edifice, and then consume it! What’s not to like. We will bring some when we see you next month. (Only enough for limited construction, however)
