Chess tournament at Medina Elementary on the east side. This was Alton’s first tournament so Nikola was very supportive. The kids did well with a couple of wins, although there were so many students from the chess-heavy schools that attend these tournaments that West Woodland tends to be edged out just by sheer numbers. Alton was called out during the award ceremony as an example of good sportsmanship.
