Alton commented that one of his friends doesn’t always get along with his sister.
“[friend’s name] doesn’t always like his sister. He only likes her 10%, maybe 12%. Well, maybe he likes her 50%.”
“Well,” said Shaynee, “people that live together sometimes don’t always get along all of the time.”
“Well I like Nikola…”
(mom and dad pause as Alton mentally calculates his final answer)
“I like Nikola 109%!”
We were discussing the concept of percentages yesterday. I am hoping that he understood it in the correct direction.
Nikola is lying on the living room floor, leafing through the CD binders (consolidated after my CD jewel case recycling project of several years ago). Most of the albums hail from our college years (when Dave and I imposed a rule that we could only buy CD’s that we find by perusing the “USED” bin at Rhino Records), some perhaps not so kid-appropriate. Fortunately, she was mostly intrigued by the classical and jazz collection, in particular the monochrome covers from Blue Note Records. I introduced her to the coffee table book of Blue Note Album Art and she has been trying to match the albums she finds to those in the book. It’s a great excuse to listen to some Sunday morning jazz.
