Train excursion!

We took the train from the Northwest Railway Museum from the town of Snoqualmie to North Bend, then up to Snoqualmie Falls. The cars are vintage and restored – the most modern car that we rode was almost 100 years old (and quite lovely art deco style throughout).

The kids loved watching the scenery pass by (admittedly at fairly low speed), as well as seeing all of the additional old train cars and equipment along the way. The train stopped on the near side, giving us a glimpse of the falls that we had not seen before. Nikola and Alton took some nature photography (a squirrel and a butterfly).

After lunch at The Black Dog Café, we headed up into the hills for a more traditional view of the falls. The first (and previously only) time that we had come before, Nikola was quite young and it was cold and rainy. Today, the weather was gorgeous and the falls were majestic. We were able to appreciate the different views from the different viewing platforms. Alton couldn’t take his eyes off of it. Or rather, managing to avoid being captured on photograph.
