More fun with electricity!

Alton’s first breadboard

Alton really enjoys building things. LEGO is high on his list of priorities. This particular creation was built from the Radio Shack electronics kit (750 projects!) that Shaynee found at a garage sale for $2 last year. The kids wanted to play with it the other day and Nikola specifically remembered building a “flying saucer” project. So we read through the instructions and made the basic circuit.

Later that day, after Nikola had moved on to bigger and better things, Alton went back and recreated the circuit from memory. We were finishing lunch when he wandered off to play with the kit. In the past, he just stuck the pieces together like LEGO blocks, so I didn’t think much of it. When we heard the motor spinning and his excited squeals of “I did it!”, Shaynee and I looked at each other and said, “Uh oh.” After that, he wanted the propeller to fly higher and further, so he modified it by adding a second battery pack in series.

I think we’re in trouble.
