The grandparents came to visit this weekend, so the kids were pretty excited. Alton wanted to show them his umpteen smashed up Matchbox cars. Nikola changed into her various fancy dresses several times a day.

Daddy came down with the same gastrointestinal virus that afflicted the kids earlier in the week. For Alton that meant throwing up twice, then running laps around the living room. Nikola threw up once or twice and was subdued for about 24 hours. We’re still waiting to see how long this lasts, but it seems like about a 24 hour bug.
As a result, Alton didn’t go on the trip to the Discovery Children’s Museum in Everett with popo & gung gung. Instead, he watched some of the Australian Open and some of the NFL conference championships on TV. Thus, I don’t think he minded all that much.
Nikola had a very special day with popo and gung gung for her birthday. This morning, they went to the Discovery Children’s Museum in Everett for several hours. Nikola loved the water room (no surprise) and digging for dinosaur bones. She got to play on the rooftop structures for a bit before the rain started up again. Afterward, she got to have a special birthday lunch, complete with birthday cake and singing waitresses. She thought it was pretty cool.
