Gramps and Grandma!

Gramps and Grandma came to visit for the holidays. They arrived on Sunday afternoon and watched the kids for dinner. Shaynee had arranged a “surprise” birthday party for Terry at Tilth Restaurant in Wallingford. Yum. T had the week off, meaning that Gramps and Grandma had the kids again on Tuesday night while mommy and daddy went to Elemental for dinner. Über yum! The kids were so excited to see their grandparents. Alton enjoyed having a hearty breakfast with Gramps. Nikola, reading the paper and ads with Grandma. Of course, the excitement always extends through the entire day. Alton’s nap/sleep schedule was thrown way for a loop. Daddy even resorted to driving him to sleep. A lot. And it didn’t even work half of the time. All it did was increase Alton’s carbon footprint for the week.

Wednesday was a great night (although cold) to see the Festival d’Lights at the Bellevue Arboretum. Always an amazing exhibit. Something akin to what Terry manages to do with a few strings of Christmas lights on the front of the house.

Christmas Eve day was a busy one. Nikola went to a special story hour at Santoro’s Bookstore with Gramps and Grandma. Then it was off to the Seattle Center to run around, watch the (amazing) model train exhibition, and (at least for Nikola) a ride on the carousel. Alton still isn’t too sure what to make of carousels. Intriguing? Scary? You be the judge.
