Happy Independence Day!

Spending the long weekend at the grandparents’ place in Neskowin, OR. Left the office early on Thu afternoon, although we didn’t actually hit the road until 3:30. Apparently, everybody in Seattle had the same idea. Took nearly 3 hrs to get to Olympia, normally about 1.5 hrs. After some emergency potty stops (nothing strikes fear into parents’ hearts like a preschooler who states emphatically “I need to go potty NOW!”) about 1 minute after passing a rest stop (after several miles of “you can make it”, “no I can’t make it!”) we finally pulled into the house at around 10:30. The kids were pretty amped up by then and didn’t go to bed until midnight. Alton had his usual difficulty sleeping in new places and didn’t fall asleep until 1am.
