Go Red Ninjas!

First game for the Red Ninjas. Alton was nervous before the game, but ultimately had a great time. Coach Mike and Coach Joe spent a lot of energy wrangling everyone in the correct direction. The boys chase after the ball in a herd (“comet-ball”, as Shaynee calls it) and generally everyone had fun. Go team!

School days!

First day back at school.

Mutant fruit!

Alton wanted to take a photograph with one of our mutant tomatoes. Apparently, this is not the only tomato with extra appendages.

Alton’s First Practice!

Today was Alton’s first soccer practice. Brodie is on the team, along with 5 other guys that Alton doesn’t know yet (but will all be starting kindergarten at West Woodland next week). Brodie’s dad, Coach Mike, is, well, coach. Also, Coach Joe. Prior to practice, Alton had some trepidation while getting suited up in his …

Seabrook 2013, conclusion!

Last day at Seabrook. It was a little drizzly, but there was enough sun break for Nikola to take a little horseback (well, pony) riding class before we left. Alton communed with the barn bunny. On the way through Aberdeen we had passed “Sucher and Sons: Star Wars Shop”, so we made a stop on …

Seabrook 2013, continued!

Day 2 at Seabrook (8/26/2013): It is pretty rainy today, a sharp contrast to yesterday. But we had enough breaks in the weather to dash down to the beach. Very different beach day today. The wind was quite steady and blew the fine top sand across the dunes like an ethereal mist. The kids found …

This resort town adjacent to Pacific Beach was named as a Sunset Magazine Idea Town. The drive was about 3 hours, some of which was …

Jedi Island 2013 (episode 2)!

Shaynee and the kids took another trip to Jetty Island, this time with our friends Susan & Monse. Apparently, the tide was really really low and the shelf stretched quite far out, the furthest that we have ever seen. Thus, the kids were up to their knees in sea mud and kelp. Mmm. Sea mud.

Train excursion!

We took the train from the Northwest Railway Museum from the town of Snoqualmie to North Bend, then up to Snoqualmie Falls. The cars are vintage and restored – the most modern car that we rode was almost 100 years old (and quite lovely art deco style throughout). The kids loved watching the scenery pass …
