Check!

Chess tournament at Medina Elementary on the east side. This was Alton’s first tournament so Nikola was very supportive. The kids did well with a couple of wins, although there were so many students from the chess-heavy schools that attend these tournaments that West Woodland tends to be edged out just by sheer numbers. Alton …

Haiku slam!

Nikola did her first public poetry reading tonight. Robert Parks is one of the teaching assistants in the school. He’s been very helpful for Nikola, supervising her daily temperature checks and tutoring the students in math. He also gives music lessons. From time to time, he has hosted performance nights for the West Woodland kids …

Happy together!

Alton has decided that he loves the Finnish metal cover version of Happy Together as played by the Leningrad Cowboys.

Sk8 Party!

Skating (or rather, scooting) party for Connor’s birthday at the All Together Skatepark. I don’t think that our kids will be diving into any extreme sports any time soon. Alton did ask about parkour once (which I imagine he would really enjoy), but that may have only been because we had just watched a “jedi …

Thanksgivukkahmas weekend!

Just as our tummies were packed full of turkey and cranberry jelly, this weekend was packed full of holiday activity. Nikola and Shaynee ran in the Seattle Kid’s Marathon along with Monse and lots of other kids from West Woodland (and Seattle, for that matter). Meanwhile, in the forest… Alton and Popo & Gung gung …
